Theirs is an international love story we can’t wait to share; but we are reserving these splendid details for Sabrina + Tor’s upcoming wedding post. You see, timing and geography prevented us from capturing engagement images prior to their Big Day. So in an unconventional twist a few days after their wedding, we opted to simply go for a little stroll and just start clicking the camera. Drinking in the rugged beauty of Northern Ontario, it was clear that this couple have such fondness and respect for nature, the earth, and nothing but crazy love for each other! Their genuine happiness seemed to leap off my screen as I began to edit their photos, and more than once I found myself thinking “Man! These guys are h-a-w-t!” But what else would you expect from a former local beauty queen and a Norwegian runway model with piercing {non-photoshopped!} blue eyes?

Sabrina + Tor: the words that come to my mind in thinking of how to describe you and the love you have for each other are authentic, natural, deep-rooted, enlightened, respectful, fun-loving and kind. I hope you are as enthused about these images as I am! You will have your work cut out for you in deciding what to enlarge and frame for your new home in Amsterdam… and wait until you see your actual wedding day photographs. Better have a lot of naked walls to cover!

admin: {repost from email} Hey Alvis, Sorry for the late reply! We got into Norway late last night so I have not had a chance to check facebook since Thursday - but I have seen all of the pictures that you posted, thank you!! I had complete confidence when I chose to contact you that your images would be great, since I loved the photos you had already taken. The photos you took of us are beautiful and I look forward to seeing the rest! I think the ones you have taken have captured us perfectly: we love the water/sailing, we love the outdoors - and each other! I especially love the outdoor shots that are simple, yet romantic and beautiful! We really enjoyed meeting you, although briefly, and having you at our wedding! Hope you enjoyed it and that you will not be burnt out by the end of this week! You are a great guy and having you as our photographer was a pleasure. Sabrina 07.26.2010

Sabrina: Alvis, thank you so much for the lovely words and the even lovlier images that you captured! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! Hope you will be visiting us in Norway or the Netherlands soon! 08.06.2010

June 25th. Memorable in 2003. Unforgettable in 2009. Historic in 2010.

June 25th is etched in the hearts of Josh and his beautiful bride, Sam, for eternity. June 25th is etched in the hearts of Josh and his beautiful bride, Sam, for eternity. Not only was this the day they first began their relationship seven years ago, it was also the day they promised to be there for each other, forever.

Their love story began on a camping trip in 2003 {at least, according to Josh it was a camping trip!} when he first asked her out. Sam surmises it was before this, but regardless… she said “yes” and the rest is history! The two shared their passion for hockey — in particular they enjoyed rooting for the Toronto Maple Leafs — and all things travel and *fun* related. Five years blew by and before they knew it they were making that ultimate first purchase and were ecstatic to move into their new home. But what is a home without a dog? Empty, we say! And so goes the story of their precious peanut, Coconut. Sam must have cast quite the spell on Josh, because a chance encounter with a stranger’s dog and only one clue as to his origin led Josh to make a bazillion phone calls and ultimately a trip down to Atikokan at precisely 6:30 pm on October 10th, 2008 {this dog clearly means the world to them!}. Coco was an immediate hit and has been not at all spoiled with love and affection over the years. Finally, after six years of blissful togetherness, Josh popped the question on June 25th 2009.

Josh + Sam: it was a treat to work with such down-to-earth, happy people on your Big Day. Sam, this man is smitten. His surprise slideshow in your honour brought tears to just about everyone present. Your White Water wedding was filled with such tender moments; I hope you can see the real emotion that built up through the day in your images. I’m thrilled we were able to build a story that showcased your love for the outdoors, the importance of your family camp and most especially your fun-loving personalities. The fact that we were able to arrange for the two fighter jets to fly over, and, in pilot terminology *wave* to congratulate you is something that still mystifies me! {Cue the jets!!!} Despite the incredible heat that day, everyone kept their cool and every moment was maximized and recorded. I wish you a lifetime of happiness and travel and hope you enjoy those magic moments on your Sandals, St. Lucia honeymoon! And who knows, maybe one day we’ll get our Leafs to win the cup! –Xo from Alvis + Sam {my Sam}

Josh & Samantha Todish: Wow!! These are amazing. We are so happy with them. I think I've (Sam) looked at them 20 times. The whole day was so much fun and we truly believe it is in large part due to you. From what we can see in these pictures, you have captured exactly what we were looking for. Just THANK YOU so much for everything. 07.12.2010

Out of the Vault: Natalie + Isaac

We’ve heard some pretty incredible engagement stories over the years, but this one just might take the cake. We’ve heard some pretty incredible engagement stories over the years, but this one just might take the cake. Isaac + Natalie met nearly ten years ago to the day of their marriage, when Natalie graciously agreed to dance with him at his grade 12 grad. Years of post-secondary schooling and maintaining a long-distance relationship passed; despite these challenges they remained best of friends and completely in love. Fast forward to one extraordinary day in November, 2008 when Isaac brought Natalie to a curious little exhibit at the ROM in Toronto. It was the “Nature of Diamonds” exhibition. Things that make you go “hmmmmnnn”. Oddly, he pretended to have lost his cell phone which necessitated a return to the museum after it had closed. Nary a soul was around as they “searched for said phone” with just a security guard in tow. Before long they found themselves back in the vault where he popped the question. {Ladies, even Sam is jealous. What a wickedly romantic story.}

And what beautiful memories they have made. Hundreds of images have been culled and I’m left flummoxed as to where to even start. Natalie is stunningly gorgeous with the most expressive, brown doe eyes and quite simply stated, she left my cameras smoking. Isaac, you’re not so bad yourself, but really…. there are no words for your bride! Her vision of wedding day imagery was very specific; number one to reflect the passion and candid emotion of the day; but number two, to showcase a magazine-style glamour in various posed scenarios. When processing these images, I have played around with a few different editing styles and cannot wait to compile their album in segments that weave a story via their eye-popping beauty.

The Bliss team was especially thrilled to work with the two of you, your crazy wedding party and wonderful families. The circumstances in which you became our clients were never taken lightly and the pressure was on. So now as you galavant on your long-anticipated Greece honeymoon, we hope you will steal away a few moments to reflect back on some of the highlights of the day. By no means does this even represent the tip of the iceberg. It is just a small snippit and we cannot wait to get the rest in your hands! Finally, as you settle into your new life in Toronto we hope you’ll remember this incredible day for the rest of your days. Thank you for your trust! — Alvis, Sam + Melissa

Special shout-outs to an extraordinary team of vendors who made Natalie + Isaac’s wedding a visceral feast for the eyes, including talented decorating maven Maggie from Maggie’s Magicals and the flower power of Miranda’s team at the Flower Shed. It was also my first time working with Gino from ZoomHd and I think it’s safe to say we got along like a house on fire.

Brian Carpenter: beautiful work 07.08.2010

Kaylie Mauro: Amazing! Your story about the wedding and Natalie and Isaac is great! We all had so much fun with you and Melissa, Alvis! Thank you so much for such a great day, and even more for such wonderful pictures! They really show how beautiful Nat and Isaac are as a couple! When people ask who the photographer was, I always tell them about how fun it was taking pictures with you, even the guys didn't mind! Thanks Again!!! 07.08.2010

Dana Fiorito: Loved these shots Alvi! Thanks for the confetti, haha! What a beautiful bride and groom! 07.09.2010

Antonio (Gino) Mancusa - Zoom(HD) films: It was a sincere pleasure working with you also Alvis. They were a great couple to work with and your Blisspics are gorgeous, You are extremely gifted and have a great eye. Many shots exhibit a cinematic quality, that is, real moments captured as if clipped out of a motion picture reel. Being involved in Video yourself I know you understand my meaning. Good luck and continued great success. Sincerely, Antonio (Gino) Mancusa Zoom films 07.09.2010

Top of the morning to our trusty blog followers. Some of you may be wondering why we’ve slacked off on the postings. {Sigh.} Life happens! The past three weeks have been insanity between standing weekend weddings and my stint as a single parent while Sam climbed mountains in the South American Andes. Definitely can attest to the chaos that ensues when two little girls become your boss for nearly a month. Crazy. Shout-out to my mom for flying in from Sudbury to help curtail said chaos and for ensuring there was always a hot meal and folded laundry. Love you, Mom! Shout-out to my new assistant, Melissa, for cracking the whip and keeping me focussed (Sam usually does this; it was a welcome bit of relief to be task-mastered by someone else for a change!).

But we’re back in business and excited to post some tantalizing new footage! Speaking of which, allow me to tell you all a little story. Who would’ve thought that a set of stairs could spur an impressive love story?

A staircase at PACI, circa early millennium, was what brought Kat + Cody together as high school loves. After a year and a half of bliss, they parted ways — but fast forward six years, and the dynamic duo found themselves back together and back in love. Throw in a proposal, a three year engagement and two adorable children and this wedding has been ten years in the making! Kat + Cody will be married Monday, September 20th at the White Fox Inn — an uncharacteristic wedding date, but then again, this family is anything but typical. Even their engagement shoot was funky and fun. Of course, we revisited the place where it all began — that staircase o’ love. Full of flair and a real scene stealer, their vibrant daughter Mariah was a real glam queen, vogueing it up for the camera. Can’t wait until your Monday wedding — but also can’t wait to see the unusual heels that Kat will be rockin’! Anyone know what they are??
